In partnership with WYNC’s Science Friday and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), Good Friends created a platform that gives young women a tangible and relatable way to make a positive impact on our world: through their studies and careers.
Breakthrough: Portraits of Women in Science is a short film anthology—comprised of 12 films that follow women working at the forefront of their fields. Each episode blends deeply personal stories with innovative scientific research of women across STEM fields. Showing how these researchers overcome challenges like disabilities, dangerous field conditions, and going against cultural expectations, will hopefully inspire future generations of women in STEM.
The films premiered with Alamo DraftHouse, but were also distributed on a custom built homepage, rich with educational resources for students, educators and administrators.
12 films, 12 trailblazing women.
Creating opportunities for students and educators to be agents of change in STEM.
